Glossary

The following glossary defines words and expression used by evangelical Christians. Some of words might seem to have an obvious meaning but are included so give the evangelical definition of the terms. Note: Not all evangelicals would agree exactly with all of the following definitions.
This page is a work in progress, I intend to add many words and expressions to this glossary as I add more pages that use words that might not be easily understood by people who don't have a Christian background.

Accepting Jesus
People accept Jesus when they ask Jesus to come into their lives. This is done by talking to God and asking God him for to forgive every wrong thing that they have done, saying that they believe in Jesus and asking Jesus to come and live inside them. This is the start of a relationship with God. See "How do I become a Christian".

Adam
Adam is the first man and was created by God. Adam was given a wife named Eve. Adam lived in the Garden of Eden until the fall. See Genesis Chapters 1 to 3

Eve
Eve was the first woman and the wife of  Adam. God made Eve from one of Adams ribs. (Note: Men do not have one less rib than women as would be expected because the removal of a rib does not change the DNA of a man so Adam's sons would have had the normal number of ribs. Also the rib is the one bone in the body that re-grows under the right conditions).  See Genesis Chapters 1 to 3

Garden of Eden
The perfect Paradise where Adam and Eve lived with no death, pain or suffering until they sinned.
See Genesis Chapters 1 to 3

New Living Translation (NLT)
A modern English Translation of the Bible.
