Introduction to Articles on FaithHi, my name is Leslie Ey but most people call me Les. I live in Adelaide South Australia. This section of my website has been set to present my views on faith issues. I’m not the kind of person who likes to force my ideas on anyone. I have put this collection of articles up with the attitude that they are here for anyone who might be interested. If you are interested in any of my articles about faith on this website then I hope that you are encouraged by them. This website covers questions such as Is God real ?/Does God exist? and What is the evidence for Jesus? Why should someone become a Christian? How do I become a Christian? How can I find a good church? Do miracles still happen? A number of other questions are covered as well. You can click on a category in the left hand menu to “drill down” to see a list of articles included in that category. I believe that there is good evidence that Jesus is a real person, that the Bible can be trusted, that God loves you and that you can know God in a real and powerful way. Can anyone seriously believe claims like that in the twenty first century? There are special pairs of glasses that have been made that turn the image that the wearer sees upside down. People wearing those glasses are confused by what they see when they first start wearing them. The brain gradually adjusts to the image and after several days those people will start to perceive the world the right way up with the glasses on but the world looks upside down when they take them off again (Until they get used to not wearing them again). Paul (one of the first leaders of the early believers) caused a riot just about everywhere he went as he told people in various cities about Jesus, the people who lived in one of those cities accused Paul and his fellow workers of turning the world upside down. Were the early believers turning the world upside down or were they turning it back up the right way?Allan Meyer uses the film “The Matrix” to describe what I’m talking about. In the Matrix “Neo” is living in a false reality that is being forced on him by the machines that are controlling him. By taking a special pill Neo has that view of reality shattered. Becoming a Christian is a lot like taking that pill. What you thought you knew about the world and what is possible and what’s impossible is turned upside down when you become a Christian. When you invite Jesus into your life your view of the world is radically changed. If you investigate the evidence for Jesus with an open mind (like many former sceptics have done) you will be shocked by what you will find. When God comes into your life and when he answers your prayers you will be amazed. It's a life changing experience. People who are lonely and who wish that they could be loved and accepted “just as they are” are stunned by the great compassion and the “no strings attached” love that Jesus has for them. Jesus claimed to be the saviour of the world; he claimed to be our one link to God. The claims that Jesus made about himself are backed up not only by his resurrection and the miracles that he performed before he went back to Heaven but also by the miracles that Jesus is still doing today and also by the way he is still changing people’s lives. I believe that God is good and that knowing him is a great experience. God want’s to be real in your life and he can be if you want him to be. See “How do I become a Christian?” and “Why become a Christian?” The main aims of this website is to promote faith in Jesus, to present Jesus as the answer to your needs, to help you find out that he is real and that he is a God that you would really want to know and then direct you towards resources that can help you find out more about him. You will notice that I often emphasize going to Church, I know that the people in Churches are not perfect but I am totally convinced that God touches people’s lives through his Church and that it is vitally important not just for our personal growth as Christians but also for us to find our destiny and purpose in God. In other words I believe that God has a great and rewarding plan for our lives and that the best place to find that plan and to see it fulfilled is inside a good Church. Use of CapitalsChristians will notice that while I am using capital “G” in the word “God”, I am not using capital “H” in the word “He”. I decided to do that mainly because I want to make this website as accessible as I possibly can to people who are not familiar with the way that Christians do things.God bless you, Les. |
