| I've put up a new blog on my
other website quaezos.com. The theme of the blog will be "IT
help without the jargon". I intend to use my experience in
computer programming (accounting software), supporting
software and general computer and internet use to cover
topics such as avoiding online scams, computer virus
protection, online shopping and budgeting software. I
welcome comments and questions So far I have published the following articles Managing Your Finances: Creating a Budget Plan In that article I discuss how to create a budget using some free software/spreadsheets or smart phone apps. Avoiding Internet Scams: Tip 1 (Become wary of emails asking for money even if you think it's from your friend or bank) This article covers a nasty scam where a hacker takes over someone's Facebook and/or email account and posing as a friend asks for money to wired overseas to help them out in an 'urgent situation'. I give tips on avoiding giving money or personal information to con men. Avoid being hacked: Security Tip 2: Have a good password One easy way for hackers to take over someone's email or Facebook account is for them to find an account with a password that is easy to guess. Using computer applications they can try several easy passwords in a very short time, your password may be easier to guess than you think. |
